As the nation prepares to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III, we thought it was only right that we bring the celebrations to ASDA too - providing shoppers with everything they need for the Bank Holiday weekend, whilst offering up some fun activities and interactive elements to get the party started!
The show-stopper for ASDA’s Coronation Celebration event was a double decker bus, which toured UK stores, bringing excitement to shoppers with carpark activations including; product sampling/giveaways, face painting, selfie opportunities and a spin-the-wheel game to win prizes.
The Bus Tour opened up various branding opportunities to participating suppliers, including; bus branding, bunting, flags & barriers, sampling stands, deck chairs, tables, plates & napkins - all of which create a memorable brand/sampling experience.
The fun doesn’t stop there, as the Coronation Celebration continued instore, with a BWS bus stop sampling stand and eye-catching retail media from entry of the store, right through to shelf-level, to engage with shoppers at all touchpoints during their visit.
Store media included: Bollard Covers, Security Covers, Internal Digital 6 Sheets, Sampling, Seasonal Aisle Bays, Gondola End, In-Run Blinkers, Barkers, Shelf Talkers, Recipe Booklets and ASDA FM.
The campaign also had great visibility online, with digital banners across the site, driving to the Coronation Event Page where shoppers could browse and shop products for the occasion. The page was split by theme - BBQ, Street Party, Party Drinks, Family Fun and also included a link to the The Big Get-Together Bus Tour – a Brand Zone showcasing participating brands and their Coronation product ranges. Shoppers could browse the online bus tour, visiting The Snack Stop, The Heineken Stop, Gin Shop and Cleaning Shop and add products to their basket as they went.
An interactive ‘Find the Winning Window’ competition gave ASDA's online shoppers the chance to win prizes by selecting one of the branded bus windows on screen, if they weren't a winner, it then offered them the opportunity to shop the selected products online, by clicking through to the product listings.
The Coronation Celebration was highly engaging multi-supplier and cross-category event that enabled interaction with shoppers at many different points of their shopping journey, promoting participating brands and encouraging purchases, whilst making it an experience to remember!
